| | Wishing all my Canadian friends "Happy Thanksgiving!" | | So today is the Canadian thanksgiving...and I am wanting everyone to wish them all a great day!
I was thinking of our Thanksgiving coming up and it occurred to me that I don't know anything about the Canadian Thanksgiving at all...and so I thought I'd ask our friends here that are from that beautiful part of our north American continent what your day is like.
Do you eat turkey like we do? And pumpkin pie and do the football laying around thing?
Do you celebrate your thankfulness of living through a hard winter like our forefathers did?
Could you explain it to all us "southern" relatives of our great continent?
| | Happy Thanksgiving To My Canadian Friends, And Everyone Else Out There!!! | | A very happy Canadian Thanksgiving to everyone. I'm a Canadian, married to an American, and we now live in Canada. We celebrate both Thanksgivings. For the Canadian one we go to a local restaurant that serves a turkey dinner, and for the American one, Hubby, the cook in the family, cooks a turkey dinner here. How are you celebrating Thanksgiving this year? | |
| | | How Do You Cook Your Turkey And Share Other Family Thanksgiving Traditions? | | Every Thanksgiving my turkey swims (I mean roasts) comfortably in a pan filled with one can of beer (or so), lots of butter, a few cubes of chicken bouillon, and green onions. I'm one who continually has to baste that bird. call it tradition or a fear of producing a dry turkey. I make two each year, one for our family, and one for church. The one for church will feed over 25 people. Others will bring more food. Our family tradition?? We watch a lot of football, eat way too much even before the Thanksgiving meal, and the kids will go bowling afterward. How do you cook your turkey? Have you ever deep-fried one?? And share some of your Thanksgiving memories with us. | |
| | Have you started on your Thanksgiving shopping yet? | | Thanksgiving is just around the corner and my kids are so excited. It's one of the times of the year where usually my son and I will get up early and treat the ladies of our house to breakfast and lunch and dinner. Our sole purpose for that day is to overwhelm them with kindness, being polite and seeing that smile on their face the entire day. While we do that, we also serve them their food and pretty much attempt to do everything for that day, with the exception of doing all of the cooking~LoL![em]lol[/em]Anyway, my son came to me just yesterday and "daddy, I have a great idea this year for 'Thanksgiving', let's get up early and make mommy and the girls (referring to his sisters), breakfast, lunch, and dinner!"He shared his idea with his sisters and of course they were already excited and in agreement with his well thoughtout plan.LoL![em]lol[/em]Have you already started your thanksgiving plans? Do you celebrate that holiday at all?
Do you have a big family to share it with? What say you?[em]w00t[/em]
| | THANKSGIVING DAY is on NOVEMBER 26, 2009. What are your plans? | | Thanksgiving is America's very important day. It is celebrated every year on the 4th Thursday in the month of November. Its origin can be traced back to the 16th century when the first thanksgiving dinner is said to have taken place. This must must be a very interesting history..Family Get-together, roasted turkeys and other dishes are expected during this DAY.advance HAPPY Thanksgiving Day!!! | |
| | What's your plans for Thanksgiving!!! | | Hi mylotters. I know that here in the states we will be celebrating Thanksgiving on November 26TH. I know that a few weeks away yet, but it got me to thinking about what all I needed to do. Now that I will have a place to call home, the first thing will be that I decorate the outside and the inside with all the thanksgiving decorations. This year I will cook up a big Turkey with all the fixings for my side of the family the weekend before. Then on Thanksgiving day we will spend the day at his moms where all his family meets at for a huge dinner. Ahhhh, all of this has my mouth watering for turkey. With all this said, my question to you is..What do you do for Thanksgiving? Do you have that big dinner? | |
| | Some people forget Thanksgiving comes before Christmas! | | So many people start worring about christmas around this time of the year and overlook Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is a month away and I can't wait! To me it is a chance to see my family who I don't see often, have a home cooked meal and to be thankful for the good things in my life! Spending time with the family is important and I know more and more people aren't celebrating Thanksgiving anymore! To them it is just a day off from work and to watch some football! Some people are so busy with their lives they forget what they are grateful for and this is why we celebrate Thanksgiving! My advice is have a Thanksgiving dinner with the family and have quality time with them! then you can worry about Christmas! | |
| | Thanksgiving dinner!! | | OOOOOOh its almost that time again, lol. How big of a dinner do you cook?
Who helps you cook, if anyone?
&& What desserts do you make?My mom normally does the cooking, but one year, I did it all by myself, with her instructions over the phone of course, because she had to work. We normally cook turkey, green bean cassarole, dressing, and normally thats it! Believe me, its enough. We haven't baked any desserts except for one year, we did pecan pie! I want to make sweet potato pie this year!
