We dont make very much money actually the only income we have is from my husbands workmans comp. | | I will be absent from My Lot due to my 50th Birthday Party! | | My 50th birthday is on Sunday, however it is more convenient to have my party on Saturday night.
So, most likely, I will not be online all day tomorrow, & maybe not much on Sunday either.There are 30 people coming to my party. It is being held at my home, out the back under the pergola.There is so much preparation to do tomorrow. Make two salads, set up 4 tables outside, make sure the house is clean (which it wont be), then go to Coles & the cheesecake shop to pick up the platters & cheesecakes I ordered.
My husband is cooking three roasts on the weber, pork, turkey & chicken.,
The kids are so excited. They are putting up balloons, & my 9 year old step daughter will make a punch drink, & my 14 year old daughter is making these fancy jellies.Anyway, all of you have a nice weekend & I will be back online on Monday. | |
| | My 50th Birthday Party- The Fun & the Drama! | | I was overwhelmed by the number of responses I received wishing me happy birthday for my 50th birthday. I tried to respond to many of them. I felt it easier to tell people about my party in a discussion.Hubby & I worked all day setting it up. This wasn't as bad was it seems as it was very organised & all three kids helped. Setting up tables, decorations, mowing the lawn & picking up ordered food were some of the many jobs. The weather was a mild 22 degrees celcuis which made life a lot easier.People turned up on time, mostly. From then on, it was rushing around for me. Even though I had told people not to bring presents, most of my family members did, plus a few friends.
I received a gorgoues cat statue, lots of bottles of wine, jewellery, fancy things, two lovely travel bags & lots of chocolates (there goes my cholesterol diet). Hubby gave me a pink "Jag" handbag.We way overdid it with food & drinks. There was FAR too much. Everybody ate very well & I ended up giving away food to three lots of different families to take home.People mixed fairly well, although my brother didn't seem to make an effort to mix with hubbys... | |
| | Do you have any children's birthday party games ideas? | | It's that time of year again. My twins will be 7yrs old on February 17th, and I'm hosting their birthday party in our home on Saturday February 16th from noon to 4pm.I'm tired of the same old games we've been playing for years, and I'm asking for advice on some proven good and fun games that you have had for your kids (or have seen done at other parties).One game that isn't really a game that I love, is a balloon popping game. I insert a folded piece of paper with a number on it into the balloon before blowing it up 1/2 way. I also have numerous wrapped prizes (usually dollar store toys) with those same numbers on them. The balloons get dumped out on the floor, and they each grab one and pop it to get their number and corresponding prize. Of course, with the balloons only being blown up part way, it makes it harder to pop them, as you can't just sit or stomp on them. It really is hilarious watching the kids being so creative figuring out how to get their number. lol.Do you have any other game ideas that are cost effective and lots of fun for 6 and 7 yr olds? | | Do you have any children's birthday party craft ideas? | | My twins are turning 7yrs old on February 17th, and I'm having their kids party in our house on Saturday the 16th from noon to 4pm.I want to do a fun and easy craft with the kids, but I'm not sure what to do. I have TONS of craft supplies, and all I know is that I don't want to have anything to do with paints.When the kids first arrive, they will be asked to decorate a prize bag that has their name on it. I've done this at every party for my kids. I have a bunch of gluesticks and foam pieces and stickers for them to put on their paper bag, and of course crayons and markers to colour with as well.But this year, I want to add another craft for the kids to do and take home with them. But I'm a bit stumped as to what to do, so I'm coming to mylot for advice.There is no theme per se to this party. There will be 10 kids here, all 6 or 7 yrs old. 8 boys and 2 girls. The invitations sent out were spiderman, the cake is pirates of the caribbean, and the decorations are mostly blue and green (colours I've assigned to the twins since they were babies, to tell what belonged to whom). The craft will be done AFTER lunch and likely inbetween some of the games, just to keep it... | |
| | | DJ announcement of Birthday party on radio ends in a disastor | | A person invited to a birthday party had the nerve to call the DJ and do a "shout out' for a friends party that he was invited to, and what was supposed to be a party for about 300 guests turned out to be a party for about 2,000...Yes the parents were home, and the bouncers that htey had there to control the party couldn't have began to prepare for what happened.The parents are now suing the radio station as the damage was done to property, the DJ did not give out the address, but called it a 'Mansion Party in Bovey Tracy', whichb I can assume wouldn't have been hard to find.

| | Have you ever had a Surprise birthday party? Have you ever given one? | | I gave a surprise party for my sister a few years ago and was able to keep it a secret. (Which is pretty difficult for me)[em]lol[/em] She thought we were having family for dinner but when she opened the door and saw lots of her friends she was so surprised! The look on her face was priceless! We also gave mom a surprise party for her 80th and she was so pleased to see her family and friends. Have you been successful in keeping your party a secret? | |

But nowadays, mostly professional workers celebrate bithdays in cocktail style or celebrated with wine for busy people. Cake is necessary only if it is culturally part of the family's birthday celebration. | |
